- August 1 – October 1, 2008: Kauai Quilt Festival 2008. Hosted by the Kauai Museum, the event is dedicated to the memory of Julie Yukimura. Quilts on display are made or inspired by Kauai and its people. For more information, contact the museum at 808-245-6931 or visit the website at http://kauaimuseum.org.
- August 17, 2008: “Sew-In” in support of the University of Hawaii Fiber Art exhibition, “Tattered Cultures; Mended Histories.” Bring your machine and help create hand sewn CD covers for the digital catalogue. UH Fibers Studio, ART 306, 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. Please contact Mary Babcock, Fibers Chair, at mbabcock@hawaii.edu or 808-262-6515 for more information.
- August 25, 2008: HQG Board meeting, 5:15 p.m., followed by General Meeting at 6:30 p.m. (library opens at 6:00 p.m.). Program is Batiks from Malaysia. Join us as our own Charlotte Szarmes reveals the history and techniques involved in this cultural art form.
- September 5 – 27, 2008: “Tattered Cultures; Mended Histories” Exhibition, Linekona Art Academy Center. This International Fiber Exhibition is being held in conjunction with the Textile Society of America Symposium being held at the end of September.
- September 22, 2008: HQG Board meeting, 5:15 p.m., followed by General Meeting at 6:30 p.m. (library opens at 6:00 p.m.). Program, provided by Carol Kaimale, will feature a historical perspective on Hawaiian quilting and spectacular trunk show highlighting her many years of quilt making.
- October (TBD), 2008: Na Lima Aloha retreat at Moanalua Community Center, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Bring your own lunch. Project kits will be available at the prior guild meeting.
